Minha Horta de ervas consiste de...
Tomates, Alecrim, Dois especies de Manjericao, Oregano, Hortelã, Peter pepper.(uma pimenta louca com bastante sabor) E Salvia.
Apart from covering up the shitty paint job! Each plant has a good purpose, and I usually use the plants and vegetables I grow to their full potential.
I have planted three coriander(cilantro, coentro) plants which i´ve been using in everything from soups to stirfrys! They are almost dead now so i didn´t bother to take a pic.
It is one of the oldest herbs used in ancient egypt, and is renown for it´s many medicinal properties.
Rosemary(Alecrim) one of the most vigourous growers that grows anywhere is excellent in meat dishes, and is used in haircare products and treatment to prevent baldness! I use it so much there´s seldom new shoots take from the plant.
Basil(Manjericao) I use in all Italian pasta and some asian dishes with meat or vegetarian sauces. It helps everything from reducing the risks of kidney problems and aiding digestion.
Oregano I also use in Italian dishes and mexican. Another ancient herb used through out history and it´s name originates from Greece. It is one of the most powerful herbs in curing stomach problems.
Mint(Hortelã) is the most flavoursome herb in my opinion, in New zealand it is eaten with lamb(cordeiro).
I use it in everything for it´s sweetness and aroma, this little miracle of nature can cure bad breath literally! And reduces the risk of cancer!
Salvia is great with any kind of fish, however I use it in soups it has a mellow flavour and a great aroma. It is famous for treating night sweats and oversweating. And for women it solves problems associated with the menstrual cycle.
Tomatoes and chillis I use in everything, despite having low yields in my tomato cultivation, lets see maybe this year my gringo(green) thumb will work it´s magic! Tomatoes and chilis have anticancerous properties.
Natures medicine is vast and complex and if we study and use a fraction of this ancient wisdom we may improve our health and moods during our daily lives. Most have no side effects and are used in long term treatment as opposed to taking a pill for a week and then having to take another pill to reverse the consequences of taking the first pill. I put Nature first.
Be warned mixing herbal solutions with conventional medicine can be dangerous.
